"the Modular Shoe Kit from K-TEL"

I know it's just a "commercial" but it still counts right?

I also always have loved Bill Needle's Mailbag, and its various
ever-shortenting incarnations.

Also the Dialing for Dollars movies w/ Walter Cronkite.

The Casablanca remake with John Candy as Patoo. "Patoo, get off of my leg."
"Oh boss, oh boss!"

When Earl went to a new deli in Mellonville to do a remote when he was
supposed to be in New Delhi ("Earl, you idiot"). I remember laughing for
half an hour after the show ended.

The CBC is putting on a very exagerated, deeply stupid remake of Slapshot....
what is it called?...
Ah! - The Calgary Flames!. Yeah... boy, the Hanson Brothers are funny. I love
the way they clutch, grab, trip and interfere all the time and the refs always
pretend to ignore them....hehe.
Funny stuff.

What?

It not a skit????

Really???

Can I mention an SNL skit that's been stuck in my head for a couple
days? "I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more cow bell."

Hehe, who doesn't love more cowbell! Fark.com members are also surely fans
of this skit and anything else Walken does.

As for SCTV, i always liked Monster Chiller Theatre's 3-D House of
whatever - stewardesses, pancakes etc., Money Talks with Brian Johns (wonder
how much it took to produce that show..), Hockey playing fool - Johnny
McVie...

Skate Johnny, skate
The hot blades thrashing against the frozen ice
He shoots, he scores...1,2,3
a hat-trick for Johnny McVie
and now he's home with his family. (or something like that)

...Bea, tell your hippie daughter to put that piece of bread down...

and who can forget Rockin' Mel Slurrip's Rockpile? Candy's Pippi
Longstocking, Tex and Edna's Prairie Wharehouse and Curio Emporium, Mrs.
Falbo's Tiny Town (Prison skit), that Fishin' Musician skit (welcoming as
guests, among others - some heavy-ganja-using rasta group, Wendy O. Williams
and the Plasmatics, that Willie Nelson character), Martin Short's Jackie
Rogers Jr. but my favorites were The Days of the Week and Rick Moranis's
Gerry Todd, Levy's Sid Dithers, Schmenges, Lola Heatherton ("I want to bear
your child!"), Moranis' Merv Griffith (with Otis Floyd: "Opie needs a
haircut") & David Brinkley, ...also enjoyed Exercise with Johnnie LaRue, the
Down The Road spoof ("plenty o doctorin' and lawyerin' jobs in Toronto").
Guy, Edith, Bobby Bittman, MacKenzie Bros., Candy's "Beaver", Magnum P.E.I.
etc. etc. (too many more to mention - more here from JTS visitors:
http://www.jumptheshark.com/s/sctv.htm) ...& here:
http://sctvguide.ca/episodes/index.htm

If you haven't read it, Dave Thomas's book SCTV: Behind The Scenes is quite
entertaining....Thomas used to drop into the SCTV news group a while back
and field the odd question....what a guy.

One of my all-time favourite shows...

I just saw Words To Live By. Gosh, that would never be on a major
network today... but it (and the rest of these DVDs) was funny as hell.

I miss John Candy. :( His Johny LaRue character is so much different
than anything he ever did in a movie, and hilarious.

One of the best (there were many) was Flaherty and Candy travelling from the
Maritimes to Tranna to look for jobs. Candy was a Brain Surgeon and Flaherty
a lawyer, maybe the other way around. Picked up Andrea Martin on the way
(Nuclear Physicist from Quebec). No jobs In Tranna, so they head for
Alberta. Classic Canadian spoof. I think this was a early episode while they
were still shooting in Edmonton.

Hilarious........great show.......
kicked SNL's ass in IMO

I loved their recurring sketches such as:

Rick Moranis doing that low budget (of course) cable show where he had to do
everything including operating the control board. Not necessarily laugh out
loud but it still got to me.

Andrea Martin as Mrs Falbo (in a pink tutu driving a "Starsky and Hutch"
jacked up Dodge) with John Candy as her sidekick. Some sort of creepy kids
show.

Sammy Maudlin and Johny LaRue especially when Maudlin made LaRue cry.

aaaaawwoooooo! Scary stuff. The look on Flaherty's face when he realized
the film was not so scary.

it goes on. I loved the Edmonton stuff.

Well, "Vikings and Beekeepers" was pretty good, as was the "Farm Film
Report" (the "blowed up real good" skit) and "Monster Chiller Horror
Theatre". Since you want to narrow it down to one skit, my choice is their
version of "A Star Is Born", with Crystal Gayle, and Joe Flaherty as the
Kris Kristofferson character. "This song doesn't have enough critters in
it."
